Consolidation target: Consolidate cuboid volume and missing-edge applications.

Fresh problems from the immediately preceding lesson cluster. Show all work and attach correct units.

Consolidation questions

Consolidation questions 1 · unit cube counting

A block has 4 layers. Each layer is 4 cubes long and 3 cubes wide. How many unit cubes fill it?

Consolidation questions 2 · unit cube counting

A block has 4 layers. Each layer is 4 cubes long and 4 cubes wide. How many unit cubes fill it?

Consolidation questions 3 · cuboid volume

Find the volume of a cuboid that is 12 cm long, 4 cm wide, and 7 cm high.

Consolidation questions 4 · cuboid volume

Find the volume of a cuboid that is 8 cm long, 8 cm wide, and 8 cm high.

Consolidation questions 5 · missing cuboid edge

A rectangular box has volume 220 cm³. Its length is 5 cm and width 4 cm. Find its height.

Consolidation questions 6 · missing cuboid edge

A rectangular box has volume 360 cm³. Its length is 5 cm and width 8 cm. Find its height.

Representation and explanation

Use Consolidation Questions 1 and 2 above (not two questions of your choice). For Question 1 draw a complete array of layers including hidden cubes. For Question 2 draw a complete array of layers including hidden cubes. Label all quantities, include physical measurement units when they are part of the question, show which operation your model proves, and check the answers by an inverse calculation or a size estimate.
